Questions to help you describe how muscle spasm affects you:

  1. When did the muscle spasm start?
  2. What were you doing when it started?
  3. Where is it tender or where does it hurt?
  4. On a scale of 0 (no pain) to 10 (worst possible pain), how bad is the pain from your muscle spasm?
  5. Does muscle spasm get worse at certain times of the day or night or is it constant?
  6. Does the muscle spasm limit your movement or activity?
  7. Have you tried stretching, meditation, or massage? Does it help?
  8. What medicines (prescription or over-the-counter) are you currently taking?

AMRIX® (Cyclobenzaprine Hydrochloride Extended-Release Capsules) is a prescription medicine to be used along with rest and physical therapy to help control muscle spasm associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions. AMRIX should only be taken for short periods (up to two or three weeks). It should be taken at about the same time each day.

Certain medicines may cause serious or potentially life-threatening consequences when taken in combination with AMRIX, so tell your doctor if you are taking any medicines.

You should not use AMRIX if you:

  • Are sensitive to any of its ingredients
  • Are taking certain antidepressants, such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
  • Are 65 years old or older
  • Have liver problems
  • Have certain types of heart problems
  • Have an overactive thyroid

Before taking AMRIX, talk to your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including any history of heart problems, urinary problems, or glaucoma.

AMRIX may affect your ability to perform certain hazardous tasks, such as operating machinery or driving a motor vehicle, especially when used with alcohol or other sedatives.
